Since living on the European continent, we have made two trips to Romania and loved both of them. We first visited in the wintery weather of March, where we stayed in one of Europe’s few hotels made completely out of ice. We also explored Sighisoara, Sibiu, Bran and Brasov, while rugged up in jackets, gloves and scarves. In contrast, our recent second trip saw us sweltering under the summer sun in Bucharest, where we visited the world’s second largest building, an impressive old town and some beautiful green spaces. Hottest of all was the beach in Vama Veche, near the Bulgarian boarder, where we sipped beer and ate kebabs in the sun for so long we turned a lovely shade of red! Romania is a country we connected with from the very first day we came, it is so much more than Dracula and Vlad the impaler (which are the same person!), it has something for everyone, in every season. We’ve written a detailed account of our Hotel of Ice experience, and shared some of our favourite moments for you here
